What is the ChariTEA of the Quarter all about?

When we set up Bird & Blend back in 2013, we knew we wanted to create a company that gave back to the world and the communities that we worked within. We are passionate about supporting causes that are close to our hearts, helping the people & environment around us, so our ChariTEA (did you see what we did there?) of the Quarter was born. Supporting causes we love through tea seemed like the pretty perfect move for us!

Every three months we choose a different charity to work with and support them through the profits of their chosen blend,along with campaigns that our fans and customers get involved in too.

During this time, all of the money that we make from the sales of our ChariTEA blend go straight to that charity or cause.

Who is EveryYouth?

EveryYouth is the national charity for young people (16-25 year olds) facing homelessness.

Last year, 136,000 young people faced homelessness. That’s one young person every four minutes. Young people find themselves in this position through no fault of their own and lack the holistic support and opportunities they need to escape it.
Homelessness is perhaps the most striking indicator of disadvantage and is symptomatic of complex issues - usually experienced in childhood - that can only be addressed through holistic and patient support.

We work with a specially selected Network of leading regional organisations to provide that support. EveryYouth believes that every young person should be able to have a bright, independent future and are committed to making that happen.

How EveryYouth helps

In 2023, EveryYouth supported 2,167 young people facing homelessness. We support for young people by:

Providing specialist mental health support for young people facing homelessness within weeks.
Providing dedicated jobs coaching to help young people facing homelessness re-enter education, training, and employment.
Providing bursaries to overcome the financial barriers to employment, education or training (e.g. clothing to wear to work, a laptop to complete university work, or bus fare to get to college).
Helping young people secure a home of their own by covering the costs of rent deposits or other moving costs.

How EveryYouth is working with Bird & Blend

EveryYouth staff work tirelessly to support some of the UK’s most marginalised young people. That work is, of course, powered by lots and lots of tea!

That’s why we’re delighted to be Bird & Blend’s ChariTEA of this quarter. We’ve chosen Duvet Day Tea (mostly because it’s delicious!) to highlight the importance of a good night’s sleep.

The young people EveryYouth supports often have nowhere to turn; must rely upon sofa-surfing, temporary accommodation and sometimes rough sleeping. None of which provide restful sleep.

The lack of sleep can lead to ill mental-health and difficulty concentrating. A good night’s sleep can change everything. Give yourself the gift of a better night's sleep and support young people facing homelessness at the same time today. Grab your ChariTEA here!

Activities:

We will be putting posters & leaflets in all Bird & Blend stores to help promote EveryYouth.
EveryYouth have a big Christmas gifting campaign online for donations & we are getting involved by giving people the chance to gift the price of a cuppa for Christmas day in their various centres.
We are donating more tea to go alongside the Christmas meals they are providing in various centres.
Black Friday - we will be sharing a shopping list of suggested donations with our customers.
Big Give Xmas Challenge Week: 3-10 Dec - we will be donating all profits raised up until 2 Dec to EveryYouth early so it can be doubled as part of the initiative!!! Win, Win!

How to get involved

If you would like to get more involved in our community, we would love to see you at our annual London Sleep Out on November 7th. Sleep Out is an event where EveryYouth supporters give up their beds and sleep outside in solidarity with young people facing homelessness.
