Refugee Support
This season's ChariTEA is Refugee Support, a Brighton based organisation with an international reach. With the help of 600 volunteers from 40 nations over the last 2 years, it has supported people who have had to flee war & conflict & then found themselves stuck in refugee camps in Greece & Bangladesh.
Refugee Support is currently running shops in 3 camps in Greece to distribute food, nappies & clothing to 800 refugees from Syria, Iraq & Afghanistan. Their food markets are just like normal shops: the people in the camps are given tokens they can spend in the markets so they can choose whatever they want. It's all about trying to restore some dignity & offer a little bit of normality in the chaos & humiliation of a refugee camp & of course, nutritious food helps keep people healthy.
Refugee Support is totally reliant on private donations to buy all the food locally & support the Greek community, & because they are a small, volunteer organisation they make every penny count.
We'll be supporting Refugee Support through sales of one of our favourite cold brewing blends, Fruit Salad - Refugee Support buy fresh fruit to distribute through their shops & we both agreed this would be the perfect blend to support this amazing cause!
