Blackcurrant and liquorice sweets in a tea

My favourite boiled sweets as a child, reimagined as tea! (well, that's what I taste anyway) I never add lemon so I can't see the magical colour change, but the taste alone is enough to make me want to buy it over and over.

A Bramley Mermaid Tea lover

I tried the Mermaid mist when it was first released last year, partially because of its name which fits in nicely to a project I'm involved called Bramley Mermaids, who so happened to be having a fundraiser at the time - perfect prize to donate alongside a little tin of mermaid matcha.

I loved the Mermaid mist straight away, it reminds me somewhat of my other favourite Blue Raspberry. Foolishly I didn't think to order any extra at the time and ran out, so hugely excited when I saw it in the tea elections, voted and ordered the fan pack. Hope its a keeper. ...Read more

Blackcurrant Liquorice sweets!

I was completely put off by the name of this one, which is silly I know. I'm not a massive fan of liquorice either so I left it alone. As part of the Tea Election 2019 I got a trial pack of it and it completely wowed me. If I would have known it would taste those blackcurrant liquorice sweets my mum used to have when I was young I would have stocked up! I can imagine this drink would be really good when you are under the weather. It has been named and marketed the wrong way in my opinion!...Read more

Cool blend

This blend looks great and makes a tasty cold brew - have to say that I prefer it cold brewed to hot. It's great with sparkling water and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. When it's hot it had a bit of a weird after taste. Also pretty cool that it goes blue!

It’s a weirdie tea. But intrguing.

What the heck is this tea? Dry leafed, this one is quite the mystery and has a very unique scent to it. A little bit like licorice but with an odd creamy scent. I’d say the resulting flavor was the same: hints of licorice and something oddly creamy with a hint of tartness (from the rosehips, I’d imagine). I think it needed a bit more to the flavor than licorice and cream but it certainly isn’t a tea I already have around. They say this is a blue tea. It certainly is, probably with the help of these big purple flowers in the blend. The first cup had hints of red, but if I held the cup to the light, the color was a purple/blue. I didn’t even have to add lemon, as the description mentions. After reading the description, I can tell there is aniseed here but this is the second tea I’m having today that should taste like black currant and just doesn’t. hmm. I would advise, if the steeps are done right, the second cup almost tastes exactly the same, but even more blue/purple. So this is not a tea to miss with a second steep! (Usually I’m second guessing herbal teas and how much flavor a second steep would have.) I didn’t want to “burn” the flavor on the first steep, but went full hot boil on the second steep to get as much out of it as I could. This isn’t the best blend from B&B but it is intriguing on all levels, so that’s something. This is not a tea I’d say was a cupboard essential, but it’s unique and I sure loved buying it on sale.
Steep #1 // 1 1/2 teaspoons for a full mug// 16 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // just boiled // 4 minute steep

Lovely color and flavor

This tea is really fun! I love the color, and it has a sweet, pleasant flavor. The only complaint I have is that it's not always blue - sometimes it comes out purple, which is still a wonderful color, so it doesn't really bother me at all.

MISTIFYING!!!

Got to be one of the best bird and blend teas I have ever tried, beautiful colour and a naturally sweet taste, I hope this tea stays as I’ll be coming back for more and more!

MERMAZING!!!

As a real life mermaid, this tea is one of my favourites!!! Such a beautiful colour and the taste...uplifting liquorice! It's one of the best teas I have tried from Bird and Blend and that says something as they are all incredible!!!

THIS NEEDS TO BE PERMANENT!!

Ohmigosh, I think this is my favourite bird and blend tea of all. It has a lovely fruity and vanilla flavour, but the colour...it goes deep purple-blue. It really lives up to its name!!! Please make it permanent

Dreamy!!!

Just had my tea ordered delivered and thought I'd try this as it was new. I'd read the ingredients and I'm not a huge fan of liquorice or aniseed (ok in small doses) but I'm blown away, it doesn't taste overly of aniseed or liquorice, it has a creamy flavour, which is a huge surprise with a very slight hint of aniseed aftertaste, it has a total calming effect and even though I know the flavours there is no one flavour that jumps out, it is truly a lovely magical blend, smells and tastes fruity, just divine, i think this will become a firm favourite in the coming autumnal months. ...Read more
